Tapdale Engineering Ltd can supply engineering experts who focus on creative solutions for engineering projects. Since 1985, we’ve carried out many complex projects.  Our speciality is one off rolling stock projects including collision damage repairs and design of specialist engineering vehicle conversions.
Past Projects
Circle Line Train 46 Recovery
This project was probably our most complex one to date. Following the events of July 2005 we were instrumental in the manufacture of two brand new 1969 Circle Line trailer cars to replace the carriages damaged by those events. This work was carried out in Dunakesi near Budapest and the train was commissioned in the UK. This train operated successfully until the stock was replaced at the end of its life. We provided a Principal Engineer for the full length of the project and carried out the testing and commissioning to enable the train to return to service. This complex and unusual project was completed in budget and on time.
1967/72 4 Car Motive Power Unit (MPU)
A four car unit was designed with all cars motored to provide a motive power unit for a specialist engineering vehicle. This involved updating the control circuits and incorporating all equipment normally mounted on trailer cars, into the motor car units.
Bakerloo Line Collision Repairs
Two seperate projects have been completed successfully to repair collision damage to Bakerloo line trains that had suffered severe structural damage. In each instance the car involved was stripped back to expose the damaged areas. New sections of underframe were spliced in to repair the damage. The cars were then fully rebuilt, tested, inspected and commissioned. They could then be returned to passenger service.
Many other smaller projects have also been completed. We have quite specialised knowledge of London Underground rolling stock and are subject matter experts on legacy rolling stock.
